The Canon EOS R5 Documentary | How Did We Get Here? 8k RAW, 4K 120, CFExpress

The EOS R5 has been born from nagging .rs who have driven the agenda of the marketplace for their own gains. Great offering by Canon however this video will help you understand where it all comes from into an amazing all in one camera package.

The 8k video took 10 hours to render not sure when if it will be even available on YouTube. 5d Classic is not 12 fps it is 2-3 fps :).

I agree, that channel is a disappointment. Bunch of elite chatterboxes.

Do you keep all your cameras? Seems not very efficient. Or do you shoot that many bodies side by side?

What’s your opinion on Leica camera for still photo?

So, 12-bit Sony is crap, but 12-bit Canon 5D is beautiful? How is that possible? 🙂
And 1D, 1Ds, 1D Mark II, 1Ds Mark II and 1D Mark II N are all 12-bit cameras too. 14-bit came in 2007 with DIGIC III.

You sir deserve a 🏅
Saving many from economic suicide 👌
Totally agree that many end up buying the latest gear in order to post something that gets likes or views and then regret it bitterly because of debt.
Stay inspiring !
God bless you

Hi Amar! Great videos and advise. I stumbled on your videos while looking for opinions on R5 and I am already a fan and subscribed. I need a small help, advise on a full frame DSLR. I am well versed with APS-C and 4/3rds but they are limited for my use, mostly indoor locations for my family and friends – birthdays etc, where I would appreciate a full frame for various reasons. What is your recommendation? I can go either mirrorless or DSLR as I am not invested in any platform yet so a bit flexible there as to the ecosystem.

I couldn’t agree more! For my needs the best system is still M43 but “the couple” said M43 is dead just because they switched their video rig from Panasonic to Canon. I’ve owned for a while both the Canon R and RP, although both are very good for general photography, I could not use them for wildlife, which I do most of the time, as efficiently as the M43 cameras. Plus, although the RF glass is excellent I don’t have the budget to pay over $2k for a lens. Thanks for this great video!

Thank you for this video !!!! Well said in your critique. Most people don’t even know how incredible the 1DC is, almost nothing on the market compares to that camera.

This is a very unique video that I got to it by chance. I followed your video because it speaks very well and it shows your dedication of the brand and the use on your gear. When I hear all the high resolution talks about video, I often think how much more does the eye need to see well? I went to check some Sony monitors in the stores and the excessive resolution at times was a bit distracting. Do we really need that much more resolution than what we are able to see when walking with our naked eyes?

I owned a 5D2 for several years, I used the camera for stock photography and it was my first full frame camera, and yes I also owned a few good canon glass lenses the famous 24-105 F-4 a workhorse, the 70-200 F-4 zoom and, and some off brand as well. All the gear served me well through the years and I got my money back and more. The files are still being sold today. Then I also purchased the crop sensor Canon 60D which I still have because of the swivel monitor and I like the swivel monitor, unfortunately what bothered me was the dynamic range on the cameras especially noise in the shadows.

Now I use the Nikon D-810 and I am satisfied with what I can do, I also use the current Fujifilm APC camera and lenses for carry along street photography.

Your video though speaks clearly that as you mentioned a lot of the sites make a living through putting out new videos since the YOU-Tube channels are popular. But when it comes to using a camera practice and the know how using the tools and a photographer's eye is what makes photography more important. Lenses indeed are a crucial tool to getting a well exposed image.
Thanks for the video it does make you think. Cheers.

Must admit, the 4 and 8 k thing is quite interesting. I was at film school a couple of years ago and what a waste of money that was. While there, everyone was going on about 4k. I was using my 6d to create footage and using magic lantern to shoot raw. The footage was only about 800px, but the dynamic range destroyed what the other were shooting in 4k in their pathetic bit rates. The amount of editing with the large raw files was a pain, I won't deny it! I have used 4k footage since and it is slow to use. Obviously, proxy files help, but there really is little advantages unless cropping. Dynamic range is really more important as far as I'm concerned. I have an Eos R as well. To be honest, I have found it great. I won't be upgrading to the R5 anytime soon, I would prefer better glass.

While viewing your video, I felt like i was being sat down by my dad after doing something wrong. It's as if i was being brought inline, to conform to better thinking and to leave my questionable behaviour behind. Man, I even caught myself looking down and away from the screen as I listened to your words, as if I was being scolded. I felt ashamed but I didn't know why? Was I doing something wrong? Was it the little Tony and Chelsea in me? Oh gosh, should I not get the free trial of squarespace with their coupon code? Or is it because the mind naturally recognizes words of wisdom when spoken in its true form – to educate? Anyway, after watching your videos, I always feel more educated in the end. Thank you YouTube-Father! However, I now feel empowered to order a Big-Mac at Red Robin just to see what happens… LOL. Thanks for keeping it real!
